ICC BIRMINGHAM TO HOST 17TH INCLUSION INTERNATIONAL WORLD CONGRESS

|

Over 30th May-1st June, 2018, the ICC will welcome over 1,000 delegates each day as the 17th Inclusion International World Congress takes over the city centre based venue. It is the first time the event, which only takes place every four years, has been hosted in Birmingham.

The event has three objectives for its delegates – to Learn, Inspire and Lead the way in making the world more inclusive - and chose the Birmingham based venue not only for its excellent location that is easy for international delegates to get to, but also the accessibility offered.

Connie Laurin-Bowie from Inclusion International, said: “It was important to us to choose a venue that our international delegates could get to with ease, and the ICC ticked all the boxes for us. We have worked with the ICC team on the importance of inclusion and we have been impressed by their commitment to some Learning Disability awareness training delivered by Midland Mencap. Not all disabilities are physical and visible so it was important to us that the hosts and front of house staff were trained accordingly.”

“When we were looking for our UK venue, we wanted something that allowed us to engage with the general public, which the open space of the Mall allows us to do, but mainly we wanted a team that were really committed to the event. We have been so impressed by both the enthusiasm and passion of the ICC team and we are looking forward to a great event.”

Association Account Director, Linda Best, said: “We are delighted to welcome the Inclusion World Congress to the ICC. Inclusion is something we are passionate about within our team and our venue, so it has been wonderful to work with Mencap to learn new skills we can take forward with us. We look forward to welcoming the delegates to our venue.”
