The ICC tops purpose-built conference venue poll | 29 November 2006
The International Convention Centre, Birmingham, has been named the UK’s premier purpose-built conference venue in an industry magazine poll.

The NEC Group’s Nick Waight, Managing Director, Convention Centres, said: “We are immensely proud and very pleased to have been named as the top purpose-built conference venue in the UK. It really reflects the driving spirit, hard work, and commitment of The ICC’s employees towards attracting the highest standard of conferences on international, national and local levels.”

Ian Taylor, Commercial Director, Marketing Birmingham said: “Conferences and events are a major driver of Birmingham’s economy and it is excellent news that one of our main venues has again achieved national recognition. The ICC plays an integral role in moving forward an industry worth over £6bn to the West Midlands region and its high profile was a key factor in Birmingham being voted the world’s fourth top conference destination in the same poll.”

The readers of Conference & Incentive Travel voted as part of the annual Conference Venues poll, which last year had The ICC in second place.

The NEC Group has already had an impressive year, with The National Exhibition Centre named as top UK trade exhibition venue by the Association of Event Organisers.
