ICC events hailed by industry
The ICC has been named among the cream of the events industry after being short-listed by 'Event' magazine in its highly-regarded awards ceremony.

The Event Awards, which take place at Grosvenor House, London on September 24, bring together those working in the industry to celebrate the success stories of the past year.

The ICC has been short-listed for the finals in the category of 'Best Live Events Venue'. More than 200 projects were entered into the Awards across 18 categories with a team of judges working in the events industry selecting the final shortlist.

The ICC has been recognised for its flexible and creative use of the venue at events such as the Midlands Excellence Awards. The ICC technical department demonstrated its technical innovation and versatility with the creation of a lifting central stage to make way for a disco floor, while an elaborate performance involving illusionists, dancers, pyrotechnics and four large video screens took place. All technical aspects were designed and produced 'in house', with a 36-strong technical crew involved across lighting, sound, projection, cameras and rigging.

Tim Hunt, Midlands Excellence communications manager, said: "The ICC team understand what we are trying to achieve - and this really helps. They are extremely professional and their advice is invaluable. Members of the technical department proved their innovative qualities."

The ICC has also been commended for the teamwork shown by the operational departments to manage tight turnarounds of the venue in multi-purpose uses for both the British Small Animal Veterinary Association (BSAVA), and the Association of Colleges.

Debbie Ringham, The ICC event manager, said: "Our operational teams are continuously exploring ways of creating new and exciting events and here at The ICC we can offer one the UK’s largest range of facilities under one roof.

"If you’ve got plans, then think big. The ICC is equipped to deal with events of all shapes and sizes with all the presentation technology and layout flexibility you could possibly want."
